Dating can feel like a minefield, you find someone you like but how do you know that they will work for you? In this blog I want to share with you 5 questions that will help you get to know them.
I don’t recommend you ask these questions on the first date or at speed dating as that can be a little too deep too quickly. First dates and speed dating should be fun and not a job interview.
These questions are too full on to ask randoms or people you have just met. However, once you have known people a while they are great to ask. How people answer, chose their words and react, will tell you so much.
The first date is to connect with someone not to find out if they meet your criteria or be a sales pitch to them. Too many guys fall into the trap of talking about themselves in an effort to win a girl over. Whereas this has the opposite effect. Think of some of the best conversations you have had with someone they simply flowed easily.
I recommend you also have a think about how you would answer these questions yourself!
Anyway back to the point of the blog, the five questions.
- How would you describe yourself?
People answer this question so differently and many people will answer in relation to their job or their family. Their answer reveals what they value the most and shows their personality. You are not giving them any clues and it can show you a lot what they chose to reveal. You are not asking the person to describe themselves physically, emotionally or professionally – so pay attention to what they answer and the words they use!
- What is their biggest accomplishment?
Again people may answer personal or professional, which reveals what they value the most and where their interests lie. Or they may feel they haven’t accomplished anything. How do they act when they talk about it? How long did it take to achieve? - What is the last book they read?
You get to find out if they like to read or not. Whether they are into business book, self help books, novels, etc. Again it can show what they value. - What is your dream job?
What would they do if they could do anything. You are not asking where someone wants to be in five years it is a little more open than that. Some people will be funny, others will have no idea and some will be clear. Again it reveals a lot. - Who do you look up to?
This question is a more meaningful and people may describe a family member, teacher, a role model or it may be a pop star/celebrity. Again this will show you what someone values.
