Common Mistakes!

Everyone is different and their journey to find the right relationship is unique.  However, there are common mistakes singles make that stop them from being successful in meeting the right person.

I could give you a long list, but for this blog, I will focus on just 8 common mistakes singles make before working with me .

8 Common Mistakes Singles Make

Let’s look at what they are!

1. Dating the Wrong People

I see singles waste time dating the wrong type of people and it leads to disappointment and frustration. If you are finding yourself repeatedly attracted to the wrong type of person it’s important to work out why!

Solution: Self-Reflection and Clarity

Take a step back and reflect on your past dating experiences. Identify patterns and traits that have repeatedly led to unsatisfying relationships. Get clear about what you value, what you need, and what your deal-breakers are. This self-awareness will work to stop you from dating the wrong people. It will help you make healthier choices and allow you to form relationships that match your long-term goals. You may not realise it but everyone has their own unique love programming that makes them attracted to certain types of people.

It can be difficult to break the pattern or even recognise your own love programming. My super skill is helping you to do that so you can change your love programming for good!

2.  Being Too Busy to Put Time into Dating

I see plenty of successful singles fall into this trap. They find it easier to put their time and effort into their job or their interests as they see the results. It’s just so much easier to prioritise work, hobbies, or other commitments over dating. However, not putting any effort into your dating life guarantees that you limit your chances of finding a great relationship.

Solution: Make it a Priority and Make Time

Make a conscious effort to make time for dating. In fact, set aside time in your calendar to do that. Treat it as an essential part of your life, just like your career or personal interests. Set clear intentions and actively seek opportunities to meet new people. Schedule dates, join social events, or try online dating platforms that fit your schedule. It is time to stop waiting for love to magically happen without putting in the effort necessary to make it happen. By prioritising dating, you create space for success.

3. Assuming Men & Women Think & Approach Dating the Same Way

I am a Dating/Relationship Coach who works with men and women. I help both understand the unique differences, as well as translate confusing behaviour. The truth is men and women are equal yet think and act differently when it comes to dating and relationships. It’s a common misconception to believe that men and women have identical perspectives and approaches when it comes to dating. This assumption often causes misunderstandings and miscommunications in the dating process that cause great people to miss out on each other.

Solution: Embrace Gender Differences and Communication

Recognize and appreciate the differences between men and women in terms of communication styles, emotional expression, and relationship needs. Instead of making generalisations, approach each person as an individual with their own unique experiences and preferences. Be genuinely curious about who they are it will make a big difference.

4. Being Ruled by Fear Instead of Possibility

Fear of rejection, fear of being vulnerable, or past hurt can hold you back from fully embracing what is possible for you. It can make you self-sabotage, avoid dating altogether or just not do what it takes to get results. Coming from fear will always hold you back and limit what is possible for you.

Solution: Embrace Possibility and Growth

Challenge your fears and embrace the possibilities that dating offers. Remember that every experience, regardless of the outcome, gives you the chance to grow and learn more about yourself.  Adopt a growth mindset and approach each date as a chance to learn, grow, and build resilience. Allow yourself to be vulnerable and open to new possibilities.

5. Common Mistakes – Going on Too Many Bad Dates

Feeling exhausted from a series of disappointing dates can make you lose heart and feel like you will never meet someone.

Common Mistakes Solution: Screening and Selectivity

It’s important to recognize the patterns that lead to these bad dates. Take the time to screen your dates more effectively before agreeing to meet. Have meaningful conversations, ask important questions, and pay attention to red flags. Trust your instincts and be selective about whom you choose to spend your time with. Quality over quantity is key when it comes to dating. Screening the right people can be tricky and something I can help you do, to save your precious time.

6. Not Knowing How to Date or How Dating Works

Dating can feel like a daunting thing to do, especially if you lack experience or are unsure of the “rules.” Dating in the digital age is a totally different experience, however, the basics are still the same. The key to success is being confident in yourself and developing effective dating skills.

Solution: Education and Practice

Educate yourself on the art of dating by reading books, listening to podcasts, or seeking guidance. As a Dating/Relationship Coach who works with single people every day, I can save you so much time and wasted effort.

Practice communication skills, active listening, and having enjoyable conversations. Remember, dating is a skill that can be learned and improved with practice.

7: Not Knowing What You Want

Singles can easily tell me what they don’t want but often aren’t clear on what they do want. When you don’t know what you want, it leads to confusion and unsatisfying dating experiences. It’s essential to be clear about what you actually want in a partner and a relationship.

Common Mistakes Solution: Self-Reflection and Setting Intentions

Take the time to reflect on your values, needs, and goals. Consider the qualities you are looking for in a partner and the type of relationship you want. Set clear intentions and communicate your expectations early on. This self-awareness will help you attract people who match that vision.

Common Mistakes Singles Make Conclusion
