Living the Dream

living the dream

If you really wanted something you would achieve it, right? Often that isn’t the case! Why, because when it comes down to it, we just don’t want it enough. I am forever saying I would like to lose some weight, just like every other girl. But I just don’t do it. But, I am sure if someone offered me one million dollars to lose the weight I would be right onto it! This proves if we want something enough and there is enough motivation we will go all out to achieve it!

So how do we do this? We need a clear picture of what we want our future to be. Otherwise circumstances will just create it for us. You need a dream, to make it happen! How does this relate to dating – well happy people living the dream are likely to attract like minded people.

You need to:

  1. Keep your dream in the forefront of your mind.
  2. Focus on your dreams/desires. This will keep you on track and make your dreams a reality.
  3. Before you do anything consider your dream.

So stop going through life reacting to what happens to you and create the life that you have always dreamt of.

Did you know that 70% of our actions are automatic? There are so many things that we just do – driving to work, daily tasks, our jobs, our reactions to those we love, etc. Our actions become automatic as we have done them so many times that our brain no longer has to think about what it is doing. Did you know that our personality (ie how we are) is also made up of what has happened to us in the past? This is great news! Why? Because it means we can change some of these automatic reactions that make up who we are.

Start by visualising how you want your life to be. How?

First relax your body and mind, take a couple of breaths. Then using all five senses, imagine what you want your life to be in the future. See yourself acting in a way that matches who you want to be. Hear yourself speaking as you if you were living the life you want. Feel the emotions you would feel if you were happily living the way you want. Even taste and smell it. For example, if you want to life by the beach, see the house you would be living in, hear the wind blowing, feel the sun shine , the sand and water between your toes; smell the salt and fresh air; taste the food you would be eating while watching this amazing view.

Keep imagining who you want to be. What are you like? What skills do you have? What are you thinking?

Next imagine why you want this lifestyle. Appreciate what you need to create the lifestyle, your reasons for wanting it, the happiness related to creating it.

After you have visualised this life for several minutes – write a clear, concise description of what you have imagined. Write in the present tense – of what, who, when, where and why you have imagined this future. When you write a description of your dream, it changes your vision into a physical representation of your dream. It also helps if you create a collection of pictures showing the life you want – basically a vision board. Put the collection of pictures somewhere you can see it every day.

Next tell good friends (people you trust) your dream. When you talk about your dream you create it, this time in words.

Finally memorise your written description of your dream. When you can recite this description from memory, you will know that you have programmed it into your subconscious. Like the hard drive on a computer, your subconscious mind will drive you to make happen what has been programmed into it.  This all will happen without you consciously thinking about it, if you do know where you want to end up, you will automatically act in a way that gets you there.

Good luck, creating the life you have always dreamt of.
